Wisdom Quotes are quotes that have a lot of wisdom and are said by some of the greatest living intellects of all time. These quotes will make you think and reflect upon life in general. Many people love to use the wisdom quotes as a way to impress others, or just for them to have good thoughts. The best thing about the wisdom quotes is that they can be found free on the Internet, and they don’t cost you a cent. So here are a few of my favorite quotes, and how they can help you out.
“Seek and ye shall find.” This is one of my favorite wisdom quotes, and it comes from one of my favorite philosophical works, by another great thinker, Henry David Thoreau. This is from his book, called “Walden”, and is from the second paragraph. The full quote is “Search and ye shall find”.
“Seek and ye shall find” also comes from another famous book by another great philosopher, Descartes. Here is part of the quote “The essence of wisdom is to know the reason of God.” This is from his treatise “Essays on Criticism and Essay on Man.” In this section of his work he lists out several forms of experience that lead to knowledge. One of the forms of experience he lists is “the senses”.
“happiness is a state of the soul.” This is a quote that has been around for ages, by perhaps the greatest philosopher of all time, Plato. He says in his “The metaphysics of happiness” that the pursuit of happiness is the only thing that matters in the end. So this is another quote by one of the best wisdom quotes out there. It has stuck with me ever since I heard it.
“Knowledge is limited, not unlimited.” Another great quote by Henry David Thoreau “Knowledge is a process of getting to know and understanding something; an act of inquiring.” These are two of the most important of the many wisdom quotes that can be found throughout the internet.
“Do you need a shield, so to speak, against all storms?” -Ben Franklin “A man’s got to do what a man has to do.” This is from his” Franklin’s Poor Boy.” Another great quote by Franklin.
So these are just a few of the many wise men, that have spoken volumes on wisdom quotes. I would encourage you to spend some time on the internet searching through the many websites. Maybe you will come across a quote that takes your breath away. Maybe you will stumble upon a website that has a collection of the best wisdom quotes you can think of.
As a wise man once said, “Wisdom is the one thing that glows in the heart of a fool, the one thing that doesn’t burn a hole in his pocket.” Perhaps this is a bit off putting for those of you out there looking for wise wisdom quotes. But for me, I prefer to keep things in perspective, and realize that wise is just a choice of word, and it is not an entity or a being. Wise is a feeling, a perspective, an idea.
The most inspiring wisdom quotes I have ever known, is from the book of Abraham Lincoln. When he was president, he often gave private talks to his friends. One of the topics of the conversations was, “What would you do if you won the lottery?” Lincoln said he would not complain about the lottery, but he would think about what it would mean if he won. This is a wise saying, and I love the fact that Lincoln knew the answer to that question.
There are many other wise men that also share their thoughts and their perspectives. If you look for them and find out how they live their lives, you will begin to see wisdom in everything. So, before you judge people too harshly, remember that you never know anything, and the best wisdom quotes are those that are shared by people who know nothing. It may be hard to hear sometimes, but the truth is that every single person has something unique to offer you.
A few good places to search for these quotes are on-line, or you can go to libraries and read books on the subject. There is a great deal of wisdom in these famous quotes. Some are written by famous individuals, while others are written by wise individuals. The best quotes are the ones that are closest to your heart, and words of wisdom from someone that you trust. If you learn to trust and listen to the words of a trusted individual, you will find yourself always being able to make decisions based on what they have to say, rather than some hot new political theory or celebrity gossip.
